There have been a few people concerned about the future viability our company and I wish to quell any misunderstandings with this letter. With regard to our company’s financial status, I can say unequivocally that we are in a lot better shape than most other builders. We have a highly positive balance sheet, and although cash flow in any given week can be challenging, we have in place sufficient credit to maintain an uninterrupted continuation of our history of meeting all of our obligations promptly.

The Truth About Impact Fees

On August 21, 2007, the Lake County Commissioners are likely to vote to raise Transportation Impact fees, the first step in a process designed to increase all impact fees including those earmarked for schools. If they do raise fees, the Commissioners will be subscribing to assumptions that growth in Lake County is inevitable and that additional impact fees will have little or no effect on the number of residents and or businesses moving into the county. Sadly, these two assumptions have no merit. Raising impact fees will NOT produce additional revenues to pay for roads or schools.
