The Pringle legacy has made our company the undisputable industry leader in Lake County. The Pringle Family’s Scottish heritage has defined the character and personality of every community developed by Pringle Development.
Frederick Pringle came to Lake County from Chicago in 1913. He was a member of a consortium that founded Silver Lake Estates, the centerpiece of which was the Silver Lake Country Club. Both are thriving to this day and that was only the beginning.
Fred’s son, Henry, was recognized as the oldest practicing Attorney in Lake County at age 96, 2 years before he died in 1996. Henry’s son, George, and George’s son, John, founded Pringle Development in 1981, along with John’s wife, Mary.
The family has now been in Lake County for over 80 years as developers and builders. Their legacy is still growing stronger every year.
In June of 2004 the Pringle Family sold the Company to its employees becoming the first ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Program) Developer in Lake County. The Employees proudly named themselves “The 5th Generation of Pringles”.
The first community established after the formation of Pringle Development was Scottish Highlands which consisted of approximately 650 homes. Riverside, a 77 home, upscale family community nestled along the banks of Haynes Creek was the next endeavor. Started in the late 80s, it was sold out in 1990.
The Pringle Clan continued the Active Adult Lifestyle tradition set by Scottish Highlands with Highland Lakes, a community of 944 homes set on 540 acres just south of Leesburg. It featured a 10-acre recreational complex called the Omniplex. This unique amenity’s centerpiece was the air-conditioned Indoor Sports Arena. This Arena can be converted from a full-scale indoor tennis court to a banquet hall to an arena in which 12 different sports can be enjoyed. Outdoor Tennis courts, bocce courts, a picnic area, professional horse shoe pits, a heated indoor pool and an outdoor pool round out this very complete recreational complex for adults 55+ who seek the most active lifestyle under the sun.
Highland Lakes was sold out in 1997 after winning 17 awards in six years in the Lake County’s Parade of Homes competition. These awards include 'Best Homes' and 'Best Community In Class'.
Next was Royal Highlands a golf community with an 18 hole championship course specially designed for the senior golfer. It has lots of open space with more than a third of which is preserved for wetlands. Residents enjoy crystal clear lakes, landscaped nature trails and natural wildlife habitats.
Enjoy a delicious meal at the Crown & Shield Restaurant or shop for all your golfing needs at the Monarch Pro Shop, both located within the Community. Adjacent to the Monarch is The Great Hall where residents attend concerts, plays, dancing events, chorus, yoga, ballroom dancing and much more. The 1500 home sites were sold out in 2004.
Then came Royal Harbor, located on the Harris chain of lakes, the largest chain in Florida. It offers a lifestyle that has everything an active adult could wish for. Complete with it’s own lighthouse, this beautiful retirement community is a dream place for anyone who enjoys fishing or boating.
Royal Harbor also has a state of the art Intranet system called Neighborlinks, where residents can keep each other informed of news and activities within the community. A featured community of “Florida Retirement Community Showcase” and “Mature Living Choices”, it’s 755 home sites sold out in 2005.
Currently, Pringle Development is actively marketing three star communities:
The Heritage is an intimate, small town neighborhood with sidewalks that wind through private streets and elegant designed cottage homes with friendly front porches.
Lakes of Mount Dora is a waterfront community with nearly 70% of the homes actually on the water.
Legacy-of-Leesburg is a nature-themed community in a country-side setting among wildlife and nature with a planned capacity of 999 homes.
All of our master-planned communities make Pringle the leader in our industry among our closest competitors.
